Laura Pierce Joins Vermont Futures Project Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce that Laura Pierce of Rutland recent joined our Board of Directors. Laura joined the Board for her first meeting on June 13, 2018 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center where she serves as the Senior Director of Information Services.
Laura states, “I first learned about the Vermont Futures Project while attending the Vermont Young Professionals Summit and was immediately impressed by the vision and research-based approach of the organization. I’m dedicated to the mission of the organization and I’m excited to join the Board of Directors and have the ability to contribute my perspective and energy.”
Upon Laura’s acceptance of the role, Bill Shouldice, CEO of the Vermont Teddy Bear Company and Chair of the Vermont Futures Project Board of Directors, said, “We are excited to have Laura join the Board and believe she will contribute a great deal by providing insights from a younger generation’s perspective. As a Rutland native and fourth generation Vermonter, Laura also brings an appreciation of Vermont’s past and present, and how that can guide Vermont’s future.”
Laura joins fellow board members, Bill Shouldice of Vermont Teddy Bear, Phil Daniels of TD Bank, Betsy Bishop of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Leslee MacKenzie of Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty, Steve Terry of Addison Consulting, and Terry Breen (retired) in leading the organization.
About Laura
After graduating from Rutland High School, Laura attended Yale University earning her Bachelor of Science in the History of Science and Medicine. She then pursued pediatric research at the Boston Children’s Hospital before entering a career in healthcare management consulting which took her from Boston to Chicago. She returned to Vermont in 2016.
Laura is also an active member of the Rutland community. She serves on the Board for the Rutland Young Professionals (RYP) and is the RYP representative to the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce. Laura also served as Co-Chair for the 2017 Vermont Young Professionals Summit and is the Chair of the Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum Events Committee.
