Stowe Rotary Welcomes Vermont Futures Project

At the invitation of Rep. Heidi E. Scheuermann, Chad Ahern and Lori Smith enjoyed an evening with members of the Stowe Rotary on May 3, 2018 to introduce them to the Vermont Futures Project and our current initiatives.

During the evening’s discussion we heard concerns and ideas, including:

• The ongoing challenges with finding workers; particularly among the hospitality industry at the heart of the Stowe-area economy.
• How large planned communities may or may not necessarily work given Vermont’s scale, and the implications of not growing organically so that infrastructure doesn’t all need to be replaced at once.
• The challenges of trying to sell businesses to other Vermonters as many in the Stowe community look to retire.

We look forward to continuing our work with Rep. Scheuermann and members of the Stowe Rotary to address these concerns and work toward economic vitality and sustainability.
