This chart shows prevalence of SSDI Benefits by age group. Reliance on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) has risen sharply among young people in VT, one factor affecting the participation of young people in the workforce. Mental health claims drive this in part. In 2013 Vermont had 11,513 beneficiaries aged 18-64. In 2014 that figure increased to 11,639.
